The Summer Ball 2009

		The details for this year's summer ball, which promises to be the highlight of the social calendar, have now been finalised. The event will take place on Saturday 25th July at the luxuriant Hemsley Suite of the University of Nottingham's staff club (map). Arrival will be from 18:30 with dining starting at 19:30 prompt. To mark the 40th anniversary of the moon landing the theme will be 'The Lunar Ball'. There will be a four-course meal, disco and other novelties/entertainments to be announced. The bar closes at midnight and there will be a survivors' photo and free transport back to the centre of Derby for those who need it at 00:30. The full price of a ticket will be £39. There are 100 places available in total and tickets will be reserved for NDWG members and 1 guest until the end of April, then advertised to members of other Ramblers' groups til the end of May before being opened out to other groups if there are any tickets left. However, NDWG members can buy their tickets for the special price of £35 at either of the March pub meets in Derby or Nottingham. Tickets will then be available at all pub meets and official socials thereafter.
		Dates for your diary: 12th March - £35 tickets on sale at the Derby pub meet 26th March - £35 tickets available at Nottingham pub meet 31st March - Deadline for purchasing discounted tickets. 1st April - Tickets available to members of other Ramblers' groups. 1st May - Tickets available for general sale. 11th July - Final deadline for buying tickets. 25th July - 1830 onwward - The BALL!!
		The Menu We will be sitting down for the meal at 1930 promptly to ensure there is plenty of time for drinking and dancing afterwards. The meal choices will be: Starters: - Plum Tomato Soup with Mozzarella Dumplings and Tapenade (v) - Panzanella Salad (V) - Tuscany Salad of Olive oil Ciabatta, Olives, Tomato, Basil Leaf, red Onion and roasted red Pepper - Ham Hock Terrine - Pineapple Piccalilli, Melba toast Main course: - Chicken Breast with a sauté of Chestnut Mushrooms and Leek, Café Au Lait sauce -Poached Salmon with Green Beans, Tomato and Chive Butter sauce - Saffron Onion Tart Cauliflower Puree, Sauce Vierge (V) Desserts: - Dark Chocolate Marquise - Glazed Lemon Tart with Raspberries - A Selection of British Cheeses + Coffee with a selection of handmade Petit Fours
		We are offering free transport back to the centre of Derby at the end of the evening for anyone who needs it. If you want to request a place on the mini-bus back to Derby please do so when you buy your ticket or else before the deadline for buying tickets. Alternatively, the University can offer bed and breakfast accommodation from £28.70 on the campus. 		Tickets will be available for sale at all official social events from 12th March until 11th July. However, if you anticipate any difficulty making one of these events, you can obtain a ticket via the post.
